Inquiry: How can I Depict the beauty of life through not only the world's natural beauty but through the hardships of life as well, magnifying the strength of beauty during struggle using hands.

Beauty in Tahiti

For my first painting, I experimented with different techniques. I explored different ways to paint clouds and for texture. My idea behind this is to paint a place that I love.  Even though this painting doesn't have a direct correlation with my inquiry, it is a sight of my past . Lastly, This painting is a demonstration of abilities to paint landscapes, and to paint water showing the different sports of light. This is the first time I've ever used oils, and I have a lot to work on, but generally I think this was a good first step on the journey of my inquiry.

My idea behind this paint is to show what emotions I feel when my dog is surrounded by the world's natural beauty. Also, I chose this style of abstract painting because it matched the free emotion that I felt while viewing this picture of my dog in the wild. After revising my last paint I concluded that I should work more on water reflection. So for this painting the goal again is to do a good job displaying the reflection on the water, and express the emotion that I feel so when you look at this photo, you’ll feel why I think it's beautiful. This painting is a representation of the world's natural beauty that is in my life, and it's not just about beauty, it's about the small special moments that happen right in front of me. For this painting I am using acrylic. This painting will be a chance for my viewers to look through my eyes, see what I see, feel what I feel. This is only the first painting I will be doing of my dog, but I will be doing more painting of my dog in the natural world of beauty. I was inspired and influenced by Thomas Hart Penton's Cartoonist style for this painting.

This was my first attempt to depict the beauty of heaven through my grandfather's eyes because I know he is there now. I know how important God was to him, and how strong this faith was.I used all the pencils. This drawing was in my sketchbook, and it isn't great, but this is the image that used to get the main idea down. In the end, I just want to honor my grandfather and depict the beauty of the heaven that he worked for and deserves.

The Heaven He Dersvess

Road to Paris

The purpose behind this painting was to practice the technique of painting a wet surface. The idea behind this was to paint an alleyway in Paris, one that wasn't beautiful, but depicts the natural calm life of a day in Paris. For this painting I used acrylic paint. This relates to my inquiry because this practice piece is an example of how I see the world's natural beauty and peace, what stands out to me, versus what might stand out to you.

This sketch is my investigation piece on my painting of the streets in Paris, for this i used pencil and charcoal. This sketch isn't really finished but my point of it was to capture the things that i need to work on for my following pieces, I chose and abstract form for this, and also more of an abstract take on my painting.

My goal of painting this is to capture the balance between life and death in the lifetime of a flower. I want to capture the peak of a flower's lifetime, but also, the death of a flower while still finding the beauty in earth. I still will be working on my hand studies, and drawing a death touched flower, and a life touches flower to represent the two sides. I will be using watercolor. I was inspired by Marney Ward's painting of a flower to do this. This is an unfinished version, but it's half.

This sustained investigation piece is the first first step before I draw my masterpiece about my grandfather. The whole purpose of this is to perfect my hand drawing techniques so I can depict it well in my final piece. Here I am drawing my hand in several different positions. I am using all graphite and erasers.

For my last sketch of a stairway to heaven, I  used all graphite again, and really made sure that I had my angle of light right, and that that the satire way is at the correct angle where all you see are inkling stairs. I tried to make this one as realistic as possible so you can get a clear image of what I'm going for and also how far I've come on my hand drawing. What I took away from this attempt was that I could work on how dark I'm making my hands in the sketches because it doesn't show the touch of light as well, IN my final piece I will use colored pencil.

After working on my hand studies, which is what my inquiry is about, my goal for this piece is  to capture the beauty of heaven through the beliefs of my grandfather. My grandfather passed away just a few weeks ago, and he was very religious. He believed so much in following Christ Jesus, he prayed to him about everything. He converted a big portion of Mongolia to Christianity and gave them the gift of god which he believed everyone should have. Lastly he believed in a great heaven where he would meet Christ, and he planned his entire life up to his very last breath. His sole purpose was to embody Christ as best as he could, and he was an incredible man, so selfless. So for this piece I am going to draw him walking with Christ up the stairway to heaven, and I am going to use colored pencil.

This sustained investigation is again working on my hand techniques, and the touch of light but I will be drawing these holding hands with a background of a place that is beautiful but shows hardships of life as well. I will only use graphite, forever for my gain piece, I will do a final version with  colored pencil.

This drawing is a sketch of a beautiful flower. Here I am working to improve my color pencil skill. After watching some videos on colored pencil techniques and blending tools, I practiced and put these new tools to the test. For the piece I’m trying to capture the beauty and grace of a flower.
